Elmos Semiconductor Sales Surge 15% on Automotive Chip Boom

German automotive chip supplier Elmos Semiconductor posted a 15% sales increase for the first half of 2026, driven by sustained demand for its semiconductor products. The company also reported stronger profitability and a significant boost in cash generation while keeping capital expenditures low, signaling efficient operations amid a robust market for vehicle electronics.

Elmos’s double-digit revenue growth reflects the ongoing expansion of automotive electronics content per vehicle, from advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) to electrification. The company’s ability to improve margins and generate more cash—without a proportional increase in capex—suggests it is riding a demand wave that began in 2025 and is expected to persist as carmakers ramp up smart and electric vehicle production. For PCB and PCBA suppliers, this translates to increased orders for multilayer PCBs, heavy copper PCBs for power modules, and rigid-flex boards for sensor clusters.

The results also underscore the tight link between semiconductor fab activity and PCB demand. As chipmakers like Elmos expand output, they rely on advanced IC substrates and high-layer-count PCBs for testing, burn-in, and final packaging. Moreover, the shift to centralized vehicle architectures and zonal controllers is pushing OEMs toward HDI PCBs and substrate-like PCBs to handle higher signal speeds and thermal loads. Elmos’s performance provides a clear demand signal for PCB manufacturers involved in automotive supply chains.

At LT CIRCUIT, we’re seeing a parallel uptick in inquiries for automotive-grade rigid-flex and heavy copper PCBs, which align with the sensor and power management systems that Elmos’s chips enable. Our HDI and multilayer PCB capabilities directly support the high-reliability requirements of next-gen vehicle electronics, from battery management to infotainment. The Elmos numbers confirm that this is a growth market worth investing in.
