Foxconn, Luxshare Boost PCBA Capacity for AI, EV Surge

Foxconn and Luxshare are expanding PCBA production lines across China and Vietnam this quarter, aiming to capture surging orders from AI server and electric vehicle manufacturers. The moves reflect a broader EMS industry ramp-up to meet double-digit demand growth in high-complexity assemblies.

Foxconn has added six new SMT lines at its Shenzhen campus and is qualifying a dedicated AI-server PCBA zone in Bac Giang, Vietnam, targeting a 30% capacity lift by September. Luxshare telegraphed a similar expansion in Kunshan, with initial output focused on next-gen data center boards using high-layer-count HDI Any Layer PCBs and IC Substrate PCBs. Both firms cite 20–25% quarter-over-quarter order book increases from U.S. hyperscalers.

The capacity dash is reshaping demand for specialized PCBs. Rigid Flex PCBs and Heavy Copper PCBs are being pulled into EV power modules, while AI trays increasingly specify Rogers PCB Boards for high-frequency signal integrity. Multilayer PCB Board lead times have already stretched to 5–6 weeks as fabricators prioritize volumes for top-tier EMS players. Industry analysts expect IMS PCB usage to double by year-end as thermal management becomes critical in compact server designs.
