SambaNova Raises $1B, Lands JPMorgan as Key AI Customer

SambaNova Systems, an AI chip and systems startup, raised $1 billion in Series D funding and announced JPMorganChase as a customer, signaling growing enterprise adoption of specialized AI hardware.

The funding round, led by SoftBank Vision Fund 2 and Temasek, values SambaNova at over $5 billion. The company’s dataflow architecture targets AI workloads like natural language processing and fraud detection. CEO Rodrigo Liang said enterprise demand is ‘finally kicking in’ as companies seek alternatives to GPUs. JPMorgan will use SambaNova’s systems to accelerate AI model training and inference.

The deal underscores a broader shift: large financial institutions are deploying custom AI chips to gain competitive advantage. For PCB/PCBA manufacturers, this means increased demand for high-performance substrates like HDI PCB boards and IC substrates, as AI accelerators require dense interconnects and thermal management. SambaNova’s custom chip design also relies on advanced packaging, boosting need for substrate-like PCBs and ceramic PCBs.

LT CIRCUIT, a manufacturer of HDI PCB boards, multilayer PCBs, and IC substrates, supports cutting-edge AI hardware production. Our capabilities include HDI any layer PCBs and heavy copper PCBs, essential for high-power AI chips like SambaNova’s.
