EU Electrification Plan Sparks PCB Demand Surge

EU Electrification Plan Sparks PCB Demand Surge

The European Commission’s new Electrification Action Plan, unveiled this week, aims to slash fossil fuel dependence by accelerating electrification across industry, transport, and buildings—signaling a major boost for power electronics and PCB demand.

The plan bundles regulatory reforms and incentives to fast-track deployment of heat pumps, EV charging networks, and industrial electric boilers. It also overhauls the EU Emissions Trading System to favor electrification over combustion, compelling manufacturers and infrastructure operators to adopt high-power electronic systems at scale. Analysts expect a sharp rise in orders for motor drives, inverters, and DC fast chargers.

For PCB and PCBA suppliers, the directive translates into growing requirements for heavy copper boards, IMS substrates, and high-reliability multilayer designs. EV charging stations alone demand robust power management PCBs, while industrial electrification calls for advanced thermal management and high-current capabilities. The push aligns with Europe’s broader energy security goals, making electronics procurement a strategic priority.

At LT CIRCUIT, our heavy copper and IMS PCB lines are engineered precisely for the high-current, high-thermal demands of EV chargers and industrial electrification—supporting OEMs scaling up to meet Europe’s new electrification targets.
